10 acres land for sale NE Nevada Elko County rural valley has power close and fabulous views of Pilot Peak south of Twin Falls, Idaho and west of Salt Lake City, Utah. The property sits about 7 miles SW of Montello near Hwy 233 very close to a neighbor with power! Its a beautiful rural valley with antelope and wild horses roaming about and stunning mountain views! Montello is a small town of about 480 people and Wendover, a bustling gambling town on the Nevada Utah border by the Great Salt Lake, is a 45 minute drive SE.
We had a chance to view this property in October 2011 and all of the photos were taken about 20 acres north of the property and you can see this property in the photos as well. I wasn't quite sure when I was out there exactly where the property sat and took the photos along the road to the north of it. I have noted it in a few of the photos looking towards the property.
It was a sunny warm windy day at 71 degrees when viewed this 10 acre parcel and it was so nice to see the sunshine and feel the wind in late October! I just love Elko and my trip out to Montello was a blast! I purchased this property at a foreclosure sale and it was a nice chunk to see come up for sale with power so close as we seldom come by properties for sale in this valley with power so close by! Hot dog! : )
I took decent graveled roads out to the neighbors and the road continues beyond their property. It looks like the road stops about ten acres short of the property in the aerial photos and I can't quite tell in the photos whether or not it continues south into the mountains. It was easy access once I figured it out as there are several roads that lead out to this area as seen in the maps and aerials. That house will help as a landmark now though!
The property sits in the very lower gentle rolling foothills as they slope down to the valley. It looks like there might be two small intermittent streams thru the property and you can see a very gentle roll to the property in the photos where these low points would be. The neighbor to the north had power and then power continues to the SW so power might actually run even closer than the neighbors which is about 1/3 to 1/2 of a mile north. They had a nice pole building and a few cars scattered about as seen in the photos.
This is a very cool part of the valley tucked in against the pocket of the Toano Mountains. Wow the views are amazing! From the NE to the SE is a long gorgeous view of the Pilot Mountains with Rhyolite Butte, a beautiful rock formation that sits in Utah to the NE and Pilot Peak, at 10,716 feet, to the SE! There is actually a view of both the Toano Mountains that start to the SE and Pilot Peak looming large beyond her on the other side of the valley! The Toano Mountains then continue west all the way up to the NW! It really is a panoramic mountain view and this is a great spot for someone who loves to watch it snow in the mountains! The mountains are so close by you can see the trees that filter down her hillsides!
There is 640 acres of BLM land 1/8 of a mile west and another 640 acres 3/8 of a mile south so two square miles of land no one will ever build on very close to this property! To learn more about BLM land visit BLM.gov.
This land was once part of the large Gamble Ranch and now it is open range land. This is a very rural, gorgeous, remote valley well off the beaten path with a few people scattered throughout it. The town of Montello is the hub for the valley. I don't ever recall NOT seeing an antelope when I visited this valley. And twice now I have seen a herd of wild horses roaming out here - absolutely stunning when you see them for the first time!
Graveled roads and power in this valley are rare! This would make a great place for that outdoorsman who would like a place to pull their RV or build a home while they hunt or fish or just enjoy the quiet and watch the wild animals that roam this valley! Enjoy! Char the Explorer : )

Elko County Montello Area Photos
All of these photos were taken on our journeys to the small town of Montello, Nevada and Elko County!
Located in NE Nevada near the Idaho/Utah/Nevada state lines, Montello has a population of about 480 and offers a gas/mini grocery store, post office and restaurant.
Wendover is a larger town to the SE on I80 and people in this valley commute there for work as well and groceries. The big town of Elko is about 1.5 hours to the west where you will find a hospital and major shopping. The Great Salt Lake sits on the other side of the Pilot Mountains to the east and Salt Lake City is about two hours away. Reno sits on the other side of the state.
The valley is surrounded by two mountain ranges with Pilot Peak to the East and the Toano Mountain Range to the East. The elevation of Pilot Peak reaches up to 10,716 feet. Elko County provides unlimited recreational opportunities with fishing, big game hunting (mule deer, elk, antelope and bighorn sheep), snowmobiling, ice fishing, mountain biking, hiking, camping, boating and skiing.
