This 10 acres of land for sale in Montello, Nevada is about four miles from the Utah State line. Its a rural valley with wild horses and antelope roaming about and magnificent views of the Pilot Mountain Range. Its about 45 minutes N of Wendover which sits right on the Utah/Nevada border. Montello, about 5 miles SW, has a population of about 480 people and is a small town with very few amenities like a post office, mini store/gas, and a cowboy bar/cafe.
All of the photos below were taken about 3 miles SE just off Pearson Road by Pearson Ranch in April 2012. You can actually see this property in the photos as well as you see for miles across the valley to the Toano Mountain Range, and this is only a few miles! Images 50, 51 and 52 show the property best as it sits down at the bottom of the gentle rolling hills that fall down to the flat valley.
It is a beautiful area tucked at the bottom of the foothills of the Pilot Mountain Range and offers stunning views of the treed huge mountain peaks from the NE to the SE! To the NE is Rhyolite Butte which is a unique mesa rock as seen in the photos. The peaks in this mountain are your back yard and it really is a stunning view of her! There are trees filtering down through the foothills to the east. Pilot Peak sits in the valley about 20 miles to the south at 10,716 feet!
Across the Tecoma Valley to the west is a long view of the Toano Mountains with the small town of Montello across the pretty wide open valley floor. There was a group of cows grazing down the road by the farm that scampered away as the truck approached. I constantly see antelope in this valley and a few times now have seen wild horses!
This property was once part of a very large ranch called the Gamble Ranch. You can tell this by looking at the parcel map link where is says "gamble district". This was split up many years ago but there still is the old ranch to the north of Montello. It is a beautiful drive up to this ranch and the road takes you on an incredible drive through a narrow fertile valley with gorgeous crops growing along the river!
It is a gorgeous valley with a few people scattered up and down it and with the town of Montello being the hub for the valley. I don't ever recall NOT seeing an antelope when I visited this valley and twice now I have seen a herd of wild horses roaming out here - absolutely stunning when you see them for your first time!
There is a dedicated easement surrounding all of the parcels for ingress and egress so you have the right to put in the road to your property and cross other easements to get to yours! The aerial photos show a dirt bladed road leading ten acres to the west. The area sits about 1.5 miles east of highway 233, the main highway through through the area as seen in the section map. There is a frontage road that runs along the east side of the railroad tracks that almost touches the section of land this property is located in. A section equals one square mile. You will find a road off highway 233 that crosses over the railroad tracks.
Wendover is a larger town to the southeast on I80 and people in this valley commute there for work as well and groceries. The big town of Elko is about 1.5 hours to the west where you will find a hospital and major shopping. Salt Lake City is about two hours to the east and Reno sits on the other side of the state.
I think this would make an excellent place for someone seeking a rural setting for a home or cabin or a place to getaway while you enjoy the hunting and fishing in Elko County. Come check it out! Char The Explorer : )

Located in NE Nevada near the Idaho/Utah/Nevada state lines, Montello has a population of about 480 and offers a gas/mini grocery store, post office and restaurant.
Wendover is a larger town to the SE on I80 and people in this valley commute there for work as well and groceries. The big town of Elko is about 1.5 hours to the west where you will find a hospital and major shopping. The Great Salt Lake sits on the other side of the Pilot Mountains to the east and Salt Lake City is about two hours away. Reno sits on the other side of the state.
The valley is surrounded by two mountain ranges with Pilot Peak to the East and the Toano Mountain Range to the East. The elevation of Pilot Peak reaches up to 10,716 feet. Elko County provides unlimited recreational opportunities with fishing, big game hunting (mule deer, elk, antelope and bighorn sheep), snowmobiling, ice fishing, mountain biking, hiking, camping, boating and skiing.
