Beautiful views across the valley to Pilot Peak! I remember the very first time I saw her in my first year investing in land. Priceless the first time you see her covered in snow. Priceless again when you see her peaks bare across the valley like this!

PROPERTY INFORMATION

Where do I start with this one?!? A couple years ago while going thru a divorce, I was overwhelmed financially and came up with a fabulous idea for a sale: “Divorce Ain’t Cheap!” I thought it was brilliant, humorous and definitely the truth! When I presented it to the office the feedback was basically I’m crazy! Yeah well I already know that!

A year ago I was awarded 100% ownership of Smile4u Inc, moved it to Arizona and was given 24 months to pay for it. Wow – what kind of woman makes that kind of money!?! So I have spent the past 17 months busting my ass to make payments and it seems that every month we somehow manage to make it.

You may see me struggle but you won’t see me fall.
- Joyce Alcantara

Someone said to me as they left my home a few months ago, “May you prosper.” They had seen my struggles and left me with a sincere blessing. I’ve never prayed for prosperity before. I usually focus on things like peace and mental happiness but it struck a chord in me so I started.

I really believe that positive energy flows to positive energy. I believe that if you really want something you should write it, say it, be it, do it…you get it, focus on it! Writing my goals down is the biggest thing I’ve done over the years so I wrote several goals and taped it up beside my desk so I see it many times a day!

About two months ago I wrote the biggest one on the office board: DREAM BIG Payoff Smile4u By Year End 2015! That would pay it off 8 months early and I struggle every month to make that whopper payment. But I can do it! I want to be free from the burden and be able to explore Earth with a clear mind.

Divorce isn’t cheap and dang it I am not going to give up! So I’m willing to give you a heck of deal on a piece of land. I have about 6 weeks to hit this goal. My daughter Amber pointed out that if we sold everything on our website that we have for sale we would have over $200,000. I told her and I'm only looking for $56,000 so we got plenty of room for making deals!

SO I’M ASKING FOR YOUR BUSINESS!
I need $56,000 in 6 weeks
and I’m ready to talk deals!

Make me an offer I can’t refuse! Let’s do it! Let’s get this land sold! I will post an update weekly and let you know if my dreams come true! Char the Explorer : )

Two 10 acre parcels for sale just NW of Montello, Nevada with beautiful views across the valley of the Gamble Ranch hay fields and the Pilot Mountains! Land sits in a rural valley filled with antelope and horses roaming in NE NV by the Idaho and Utah State lines about 2 hours W of Salt Lake City, Utah. Your choice of lots 1/2 mile apart in Elko County.

All of the photos were taken in 2005 in the section (square mile) that adjoins to the NE about 1/2 and 3/4 of a mile away. You can see these properties looking west towards the Toano Mountains as seen in images #53 thru 56 & 74 - 80.

The graveled Gamble Winecup Ranch heads N out of Montello and then there is a decent graveled/dirt road that leads west almost to the SE corner of this section. From that point there is dirt/graveled roads leading along the south and east sides of the section lines and dedicated easements to the property. The aerial photos show power about 1.3 miles SE at the neighbors and appears to be another neighbor off grid to the east about ½ a mile, otherwise there is no one around!

You can see Montello in the distance to the SE and the Gamble Ranch to the NE. It was so green in July 2005! The area was quite grassy with small scattered sage and small pebbles. All of this was once part of the old Gamble Ranch and you can see that the Parcel Map says "Gamble District" on it and it is open range. The property is zoned for either a home, manufactured home or RV. All of the parcels of land have an easement surrounding them for ingress and egress.

The section of land that these two lots are in is surrounded by 4 square miles of BLM land as seen in the BLM map. Each square on this map represents one square mile which equals 640 acres. To learn more about BLM land visit BLM.gov.

It has sweeping views of the Pilot Mountains Range from the NE to the SE. Pilot Peak sits to the SE at 10,716 feet and my oh my does this have some gorgeous views! Her peaks are ever changing with the seasons! Rhyolite Butte is a beautiful big rock at the NE end of this range. I really enjoyed the first time I got to see this rock so up close - she is beautiful and such a unique shape.

My Grandfather told me I was related to the great Kit Carson and I read an interesting story about how Pilot Peak got its name. It was an easily recognized landmark from the Great Salt Lake Desert and during John C. Fremont's third expedition mapping the Great Basin, he sent Kit Carson ahead to scout for water sources to see if his entire party could cross the desert. Carson found a perennial spring just east of the peak and lit a large bonfire signaling Fremont that the crossing was possible. I have been so drawn to this valley since I first started exploring land in 2001 and found an even greater reason to love it! I get happy chills when I hear Kit Carson was somewhere before me!

Close by from the NW to the SW is the Toano Mountain Range. She’s so close you can see great detail in the trees filtering down her mountainsides to the foothills just west!

I have explored the west side of the Toano Mountains and it is miles of jeep trails to explore in a 4WD with antelope running around. Apparently there are elk out here too although I have not seen them myself but in October 2014 we were stopped by a hunter with a quad asking if we had seen any elk. He said they liked to hang out in the mountain just across the valley to the west. He also commented on a few people that had improved their properties on this side of the mountains and sure enough down the road a ways we spotted a cute cabin! I snapped a picture of his truck and quad and included it in the additional photos area - fun!

This land was once part of the large Gamble Ranch and it is open range land. This is a very rural and remote valley well off the beaten path. It is a gorgeous valley with a few people scattered up and down it and with the town of Montello being the hub for the valley. I don't ever recall NOT seeing an antelope when I visited this valley and twice now I have seen a herd of wild horses roaming out here - absolutely stunning when you see them for your first time!

This is a very rural and remote valley well off the beaten path with a few people scattered up and down it and with the town of Montello, population 138, being the hub for the valley. It offers a gas/mini grocery store, post office and restaurant. I don't ever recall NOT seeing an antelope when I visited this valley and I have seen wild horses roaming out here as well - absolutely stunning when you see them for your first time!

A few locals educated me about how sacred these mountains were to the natives who lived here many years ago when we stopped in for a cool drink and delicious bite to eat at the Cowboy Bar Café in 2012 - one of the best greasiest cheeseburgers in Nevada! They told me that the Pilot Mountains, Toano Mountains and the valley between is filled with arrows, old sewing needs and lots more remnants from those who lived here many, many years ago! I have spent a few days exploring the west side of the Toano Mountains and it is miles of jeep trails to explore with antelope running around.

We stopped at the Cowboy Bar Café again in 2013 for a bite to eat and to warm up and met a couple cowboys that said they worked at the Gamble Ranch and I spent the next hour bending their ear! They said it had been a very cold winter and it was common for some cattle to die and we had just finished picking up a big skull out by this property. I included a few photos in the additional photos area of these truly nice gentlemen - thanks guys!

Wendover is a larger town to the SE about an hour on Interstate 80 and people in this valley commute there for work as well as groceries. There is also a mine that has been expanding its operations along I80 to the S.

The big town of Elko is about 1.5 hours west where you will find a hospital and major shopping. I saw signs along the interstate by Elko advertising that they need workers! I have heard several times over the past two years about the shortage of homes for the workers in the Elko area! It’s so nice to see the continued good economy there!

I’ve often seen hunters coming out of the Toano Mountains and in the fall of 2014 I had someone tell me that he hangs out on the west side of the Toano’s frequently hunting elk! If you have been looking for a place to build a home in a beautiful rural valley or a place to park your RV while you hunt or explore with decent access check this one out! It is hard for us to come by land so close to Montello at these prices! Enjoy! Char the Explorer : )

Elko County Montello Area Photos

All of these photos were taken on our journeys to the small town of Montello, Nevada and Elko County! Located in NE Nevada near the Idaho/Utah/Nevada state lines, Montello is a small community but offers a gas/mini grocery store, post office and restaurant.

In January 2015 I spoke to Elko County Public Works Dept and was told they were putting in a metered water station in Montello where you can get drinkable water to haul. The county is in charge of it and access is thru a key pad with a pin # for a monthly fee. You can contact them for further information.

Wendover is a larger town to the SE on I80 and people in this valley commute there for work as well and groceries.

The big town of Elko is about 1.5 hours to the west where you will find a hospital and major shopping. The population of Elko County is over 52,000. The Great Salt Lake sits on the other side of the Pilot Mountains to the east and Salt Lake City is about two hours away. Reno sits on the other side of the state.

The valley is surrounded by two mountain ranges with Pilot Peak to the East and the Toano Mountain Range to the East. The elevation of Pilot Peak reaches up to 10,716 feet.

A video I made of my drive around the E side of the Pilot Mountain Range and the Great Sale Lake Desert in June 2012. It was filled with elk! Incredible!

Elko County is located in northeastern Nevada, 295 miles east of Reno and 237 miles west of Salt Lake City. With 17,135 square miles it is one of the largest counties in the USA and is the heart of NE Nevada. A book listing American towns with the highest quality of life declared Elko, Nevada, "The Best Small Town in America."

It is a small city, and a booming trading and service center for a mining and ranching area roughly the size of New England. In 2005 Relocate-America.com has named Elko City as 1 of the "Top 100 Places To Live" in the United States.

The weather in Elko County is considered ideal by many. Summer finds hot, dry afternoons with temperatures in the 90s, cooling to the low 40s and 50s by morning. Winters are moderate with lows typically in the 20s or 30s. Daytime highs during the winter months are in the 40s or 50s. Snowfall averages 42 inches per year and generally melts quickly. Yearly rainfall ranges from 9 to 10.5 inches. Sunny skies are usually seen over 300 days a year!

The land is mountainous and interspersed with low, flat valleys. The Humboldt River flows through the county. Elko County provides unlimited recreational opportunities with fishing, big game hunting (mule deer, elk, antelope and bighorn sheep), snowmobiling, ice fishing, mountain biking, hiking, camping, boating and skiing.

A video of my first journey around the Ruby Mountains in June 2004! Includes Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge, the Humboldt River and the Last Chance Ranch II by Spring Creek and Elko, Nevada!
