Beaty's Butte!

 
This 20 acres of real estate for sale is located in the Oregon Outback in south central Lake County near the small town of Lakeview. This is a very rural area and well off any beaten path. It is near the Sheldon and Hart Mountain National Wildlife Refuges. These two refuges are managed out of Lakeview, Oregon and as you can see by the photos this is a beautiful place to explore if you're into wildlife and no one around! This is high desert and also known as sagebrush flats.
 
This property is zoned A-2 for agricultural use, but a permit can be applied for to build a homesite.  RV use is allowed for 7 days at a time as well as tent camping.
 
All of the photos were taken on our journeys to this area and the road in the pictures is the road we took when exploring the area and it looks like it runs about 1/2 of a mile to the west of the property as seen in the map links. I do not have photos of the actual property but these should be a pretty good representation of what it's like out there! I think this property is best suited for someone seeking a place to get away, take their RV or build a small cabin. It is not the type of place to build a home with easy access and some would say this is the middle of nowhere! While researching this area on the internet I found a few photos of big game that were hunted!
 
It sits on the west side of Beaty's Butte which rises to an elevation of 7,897 feet. This peak is known to many hikers who climb the tallest peaks in Oregon. The mountain actually sits in Harney County just to the east of Lake County and the maps show the property sits close to the Harney County line. The maps show there is an intermittent stream through tne west side of the property. You will definitely need to have some land exploration skills and a gps to locate this property. We made a few different journeys down into this part of the county and it took us a few tries to figure it out so be well prepared. I suggest you stay the night in Lakeview as it looks to be about 60-70 miles to the southwest as the crow flies. But once you get off the main roads it is a slower go so allow plenty of time!
 
Lakeview is a small town of 2600 people and the county seat for Lake County, a cute oasis in the high desert. At an elevation of 4798 it is often referred to as the Tallest Town in Oregon. The Dairy Queen is a popular spot and I have stopped there a few times on my journeys here.

The next set of photos was taken on our journey to this area. We drove north out of Nevada into Lake County through the Sheldon and Hart Mountain national Wildlife Refuges! This took us around Beaty's Butte on the west side.

This was too darn cute - a family was approaching the fence to cross as we were driving by - we stopped to watch and they cautiously took turns ducking under the fence to cross in front of us - a beautiful family!
