This is looking north on Herschell which cuts through the middle of the group of properties on the west side! Herschell runs north to south at a slant around lots 3, 4, and 10.

This is looking south on Herschell - there are power poles in the distance along the road.

This is a large group of adjoining lots totaling 62.7 acres about 6 miles southwest of Winnemucca in north central Nevada. It is in Grass Valley about 2.5 hours northeast of Reno and the Oregon state line is about an hour to the north. Being sold are seven adjoining lots ranging in size from 7.45 acres up to 9.54 acres. Their total acreage equals 62.71 acres! We are willing to sell the lots individually as well as a large group. This beautiful valley is about ten minutes away from Winnemucca which is a bustling town of a little over 7100 people. All of the photos were taken in August 2009 of the property and its surrounding views. It sure was a beautiful time of year with the valley a pretty green!
From the northeast all the way down to the southeast is a very long beautiful view of the Santa Rosa Range!. It stretches from Winnemucca up into Oregon and most of the range is in the national forest. There is a very pretty mountain to the southwest and then more mountain views in the distance to the west. The area is fairly flat with a few very small gentle sandy rolling hills scattered around. You can see this in the aerial photos. The properties are covered with tall sage brush and native plants.
We took the photos from a few different places as noted in the photos. Herschell is a paved road that runs through lots 3 and 10 and almost touches lot 4. DeGiogio Lane takes off to the west and is graveled around the northwest corner of lot 3. There are a few nice manufactured homes down this lane. There appears to be a dirt road down the west side of lots 3 and 10. The aerial photos showed the other roads as being in but they are overgrown and we did not spend time searching for them. We did not check out the road that comes in to the southeast corner that is shown on the aerial photos so there might be more roads in than I know about. There are dedicated easements to each property and you might need to have a survey done to pin the corners. There is power located about 1/4 of a mile south of the group of lots at the neighbors as seen in the photos and aerial photos. You will need to contact the power company to verify just how close it is and the cost.
The zoning allows for homes as well as manufactured homes. There are several homes sprinkled around this part of the valley and the groves of trees in the distance add lots of character to the high desert scape! We snapped a few photos of the homes just to the south where the power is and one of the neighbors had a few horses - a very pretty rural setting!
Make sure you view the Lot numbers and APN numbers (assessors parcel numbers) closely on the parcel map link above and the legal descriptions when communicating which property you are interested in. The APN numbers are noted in a circle on the parcel map and the actual lot number is the number directly above it.
Sitting only ten minutes southwest of the bustling cute town of Winnemucca I thought this was a beautiful chunk of land and a great spot to enjoy the quiet high mountain desert! I am often asked for land in this area and was so pleasantly surprised to find a great improved road through the big chunk of land as well as power so close by! Winnemucca is an interesting town sitting along busy Interstate 80 about half way between Reno and Elko. The town is a great choice for people that want to live in a rural area but not be too far from a hospital with emergency department and a Wal-mart! I have stayed many nights in Winnemucca myself, enjoying the restaurants and spending my $20 in gambling money! I like the clean town and nice people. Enjoy! Char the Explorer : )
This first series of photos was taken near the north and middle of the properties on Herschell Road.
The railroad tracks sit just to the north of the group of properties. The second photos below shows the dirt road that takes off to the east at the north of lots 3 and 4.
This is looking to the east at the Sonoma Range. This is looking over lots 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8.
There are a few very small sandy rolling hills on the east side of Herschell Road which you can see in the photo below and the aerial photos.
These next photos are taken looking to the west - lots of houses and groves of trees sprinkled about with more mountains in the distance! You can see lots 3 & 10 in these next photos.
The next group of photos was taken along Herschell and DeGiogio Lane which runs along the north side of lot 3 which is 7.45 acres. Herschell is paved and DeGiogio is graveled with a few nices homes along it to the west.

These are the houses to the south of the group of lots where the power is at. There are some nice manufactured homes and a few horses - a very pretty rural setting!

Welcome to Humboldt County!

Update: June 2009 We took a quick family trip with me (Char), Mark, Amber and Buddy to look at some land just southwest of Winnemucca down by Unionville. I had heard from a gal at the Flying Pig that it had rained quite a bit in June and the hillsides and valleys were a beautiful green! From there we headed over to Elko and on up to Wildhorse where we found several people out enjoying the lake. It was the greenest I have ever seen Nevada!
Overlooking the town of Winnemucca from the north!
People out enjoying the sand dunes just north of Winnemucca and the Humboldt River winding its way through the valley.

The new Pilot Travel Center opened in 2008 on the west end of town and new homes just north of Winnemucca.

I think this is such a beautiful mural - love the horses - one of many pretty ones along the main street in town!

This is my favorite spot to stop when in Wendover - the Holiday Inn Express that has a casino attached to it and an excellent mexican restaurant inside as well. The Flying Pig was a fun place to stop for a quick bite - such a cute sign - always wanted to go there and now my life is complete! : ) Mark offered to take my picture under the sign...hmmm...a picture of me under a pig sign....I passed with a good laugh! : )

The highlight of the afternoon was definitely the people out enjoying a horse ride on a warm afternoon near Unionville!
We stopped and let my yorkypoo play ball for a bit and get some exercise - I finally managed to sneak a photo of my dog into a listing! Notice the tennis ball in his mouth - we call him Ichiro! : )
Humboldt Countyis located in the high desert region of north central Nevada. It is 9.626 square miles and boasts of being the leading agricultural county in the State of Nevada with over 100,000 acres being cultivated. Winnemucca, the county seat since 1872, is the heart of cowboy country with always something to do. The population of Winnemucca is 7,174 and the county population is 16,106. Major industries are agriculture, forestry, fishing, hunting and mining. Average daily high temperatures range from the 40's in the wintertime to 90's in the summertime.
Winnemucca is a beautiful diverse town where you will find Basque, Hispanic and Native Americans mixing with cowboys, farmers and miners. The casinos bring bright lights to the tourists at night and it offers plenty to do during the day. Initially a town developed along the trapper routes and then the roadroad, ranchers and miners settled the area as it grew into a shipping and commercial center. It sits at the "crossroads of the West" - interestate 80 east and west and Highway 95. History buffs can relax in Pioneer Park or head out to the beautiful wide open spaces and enjoy the many historical sites and great hunting and fishing this area has to offer. The town also offers a 9-hole golf course, tennis courts, swimming pools, parks, Humboldt General Hospital, the Great Basin College
My Grandad loved John Deere Tractors so this one's for him! These next five pictures were taken south of Winnemucca in Grass Valley. August 2004

The four pictures below were taken as we journeyed from Nevada to Oregon through the Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge, about 100 miles northwest of Winnemucca. On the Nevada side we were met by a burro standing next to the entrance sign and at the entrance on the Oregon side we were met by a few horses, our greeters for the day! The refuge was filled with antelope and birds - what a beautiful drive! May 2005

The next pictures were taken in May 2005 at Rye Patch Reservoir which is about 50 minutes SW of Winnemucca. I had never seen the reservoir this full before and the locals were having a ball fishing and waterskiing!
