This photos is looking south towards the property which sits just four lots away to the southeast!

These are two adjoining 4.88 acres totaling 9.76 acres for sale located about seven miles southwest of the bustling town of Winnemucca Nevada in Grass Valley. It is about 2.5 hours northeast of Reno and about two miles south of Interstate 80. This beautiful valley is about ten minutes away from Winnemucca which is a bustling town of a little over 7100 people. All of the photos below were taken in April 2009 about 20 acres towards the northeast when we viewed another property in this same block. We have shown this in the parcel map link and you can actually see this property in the photos as well. It was a cloudy day but I could still see just how pretty the snowcapped mountains were!

It is a pretty area in the middle of the valley with fabulous views of the long mountain ranges in all directions and you can see the town of Winnemucca in the far distance. The nearby hills were a beautiful green and so was the valley from the spring snow melt. It was a long winter and there was still plenty of snow in the mountains. The East Mountain Range sits to the southwest of the property. Across the valley to the northeast the Sonoma Range stretches from Winnemucca down to the southeast as far as you can see! I loved the detail in the close by mountains to the southwest - you could see the trees covering her! There was especially a lot of snow in the mountains to the southeast and even though there was a bit of clouds you can still make out how pretty they are!

There are a few homes in this area as seen in the photos and aerial photos. A group of neighbors sits two lots to the south and another group of neighbors is two lots to the west. There is also a neighbor that adjoins the property to the north and you can see this neighbor home in the photos below. They are on Bighorn Street and these properties are on Elk Street. Herschell Road is an excellent county road to the west about 1/4 to 1/3 of a mile and is seen in the photos as well and the roads off of it are marked so it should be pretty easy to find this property. You would probably need to improve the dirt road two lots east of the neighbor but there roads there are bladed. There is power very close and you would need to view the property to know just how close it runs but you can see the power poles in some of the photos and to some of the nearby homes. We have included several maps that show the roads and aerial photos of nearby neighbors.

The property is covered in tall sage brush that was greening up! It was a soft dirt with a bit of grass sprinkled about. The birds were singing - very pretty! There are a few groves of trees around the valley at neighboring homes making for a pretty horizon. The zoning allows homes and manufactured homes and a few weeks of RV use at a time as well. Horses are allowed in the valley and we saw a few nearby places with horses. Sitting only minutes away from the bustling cute town of Winnemucca I thought this was a pretty chunk of land and a great spot to enjoy the quiet high mountain desert! I often get people asking for land near this town and this seems to be a popular valley for those wishing to live close to town yet still in the country side! Enjoy! Char the Explorer : )

Beautiful views of the Sonoma Mountain Range to the east - even in the clouds we could see she had lots of snow on her!

I believe this is the neighbor that adjoins the lots on the north side - cute place! The property sits directly beyond this property.

Lots of homes sprinkled around this part and you can see power lines as well.

These next fwe pictures were taken at the intersection of Big Horn Street and Herschel - you can see a green utility box also. This intersection is one street to the north so it should be pretty easy to locate Elk Street.

Looking north and south down Herschel.

The green utility box along Herschel - I believe these are a few of the homes that sit just to the west of the property.

A few of the locals along Herschel to the west! Several of the locals have horses in the area.

Wondering what it looks like on a sunny day? I took these next photos about one mile NE in August 2009!

Welcome to Humboldt County!

Update: June 2009 We took a quick family trip with me (Char), Mark, Amber and Buddy to look at some land just southwest of Winnemucca down by Unionville. I had heard from a gal at the Flying Pig that it had rained quite a bit in June and the hillsides and valleys were a beautiful green! From there we headed over to Elko and on up to Wildhorse where we found several people out enjoying the lake. It was the greenest I have ever seen Nevada!

Overlooking the town of Winnemucca from the north!

People out enjoying the sand dunes just north of Winnemucca and the Humboldt River winding its way through the valley.

The new Pilot Travel Center opened in 2008 on the west end of town and new homes just north of Winnemucca.

I think this is such a beautiful mural - love the horses - one of many pretty ones along the main street in town!

This is my favorite spot to stop when in Wendover - the Holiday Inn Express that has a casino attached to it and an excellent mexican restaurant inside as well. The Flying Pig was a fun place to stop for a quick bite - such a cute sign - always wanted to go there and now my life is complete! : ) Mark offered to take my picture under the sign...hmmm...a picture of me under a pig sign....I passed with a good laugh! : )

The highlight of the afternoon was definitely the people out enjoying a horse ride on a warm afternoon near Unionville!

We stopped and let my yorkypoo play ball for a bit and get some exercise - I finally managed to sneak a photo of my dog into a listing! Notice the tennis ball in his mouth - we call him Ichiro! : )

Humboldt Countyis located in the high desert region of north central Nevada. It is 9.626 square miles and boasts of being the leading agricultural county in the State of Nevada with over 100,000 acres being cultivated. Winnemucca, the county seat since 1872, is the heart of cowboy country with always something to do. The population of Winnemucca is 7,174 and the county population is 16,106. Major industries are agriculture, forestry, fishing, hunting and mining. Average daily high temperatures range from the 40's in the wintertime to 90's in the summertime.

Winnemucca is a beautiful diverse town where you will find Basque, Hispanic and Native Americans mixing with cowboys, farmers and miners. The casinos bring bright lights to the tourists at night and it offers plenty to do during the day. Initially a town developed along the trapper routes and then the roadroad, ranchers and miners settled the area as it grew into a shipping and commercial center. It sits at the "crossroads of the West" - interestate 80 east and west and Highway 95. History buffs can relax in Pioneer Park or head out to the beautiful wide open spaces and enjoy the many historical sites and great hunting and fishing this area has to offer. The town also offers a 9-hole golf course, tennis courts, swimming pools, parks, Humboldt General Hospital, the Great Basin College

My Grandad loved John Deere Tractors so this one's for him! These next five pictures were taken south of Winnemucca in Grass Valley. August 2004

The four pictures below were taken as we journeyed from Nevada to Oregon through the Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge, about 100 miles northwest of Winnemucca. On the Nevada side we were met by a burro standing next to the entrance sign and at the entrance on the Oregon side we were met by a few horses, our greeters for the day! The refuge was filled with antelope and birds - what a beautiful drive! May 2005

The next pictures were taken in May 2005 at Rye Patch Reservoir which is about 50 minutes SW of Winnemucca. I had never seen the reservoir this full before and the locals were having a ball fishing and waterskiing!
