From left to right: Giant Pilot Peak with fresh snow on her peaks and the start of the Toano Range! This 10 acre lot is located in northeastern Nevada very near the Nevada/Utah/Idaho border. This property is roughly 4 miles southwest of the town of Montello, with a population of 480. All of the photos below were taken when we visited in October 2008 about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile to the southwest of this property as well as 20 acres to the north along the road so the pictures are an excellent representation of the land. You can actually see this property in the pictures that looks east towards the Pilot Mountain Range. We have also noted in the Parcel Map link above where the property is and where the photos were taken. There is an intermittent stream in this section that you can see in the parcel map and aerial map links above. It was dry when we were there and probably only runs in a quick snow melt. There is a graveled/dirt road that leads along the top of this section line that is in excellent condition as seen in the photos below. We found a federal survey marker along this road where section 34, 35 and 3 meet. This marker is only 20 acres to the north of the property so there is a good road very close! The aerial photo also shows a jeep trail leading down the east side of the property and you would need to view the property to know the condition of the road. But at least it is there which will help you locate the property! We found a gate along the highway where the section line starts that we opened and drove through to access this graveled/dirt road. It was very driveable with hardly any sage brush in the road. As you can see from the maps, this property almost completely sits north of the intermittent stream so you shouldnt have the problem of driving through the stream as the vegetation was quite a bit higher there. There is an abandoned building and some junk to the northwest of this property near the railroad tracks. Other than that it is pretty private with no one around! If you follow the road all the way to the building, you will also run into a fence which runs along the railroad. There is no opening to get through the fence along the railroad tracks side though. The fences and the railroad tracks can be seen in the map links above and in the photos below. Other than the abandoned building, there is no other buildings and no one else living so there is plenty of privacy for someone looking for a rural place to live! This valley has awesome views of the Toano Mountain Range to the west to southwest of this property and Pilot Mountain Range from the northeast to the southeast! Pilot Peak had recently received snow and the mountain was very pretty! The Toano Mountains are so close you can see the tree that filter down her mountain sides especially to the west and northwest! To the north is the small town of Montello in the valley between these two mountain ranges! All of this was once part of the old Gamble Ranch and you can see that the Parcel Map says "Gamble District" on it. All of the parcels of land have an easement surrounding them for ingress and egress. This property adjoins 640 acres of BLM land on it's east side as seen in the BLM map above!! For information on BLM land visit www.BLM.gov.I can't say enough about how beautiful I think this land is. This valley is surrounded by an abundance of wildlife in two mountain ranges! We actually startled some just to the north of this property the day we were exploring land! I always see antelope in this valley and sure enough we saw some big ones with horns this time! If you have been looking for a place to get away from it all be sure and check this out! I think this would be a great spot for a home or a place to pull your RV while you play in the outdoors here! Enjoy! Char the Explorer : ) We merged a few photos together to show just how long the Toano Mountain Range is to the west - and this is just part of it! It is so close you can see the trees filtering down her hillsides. The line through the valley is the railroad tracks. There are a few canyons that take you up into these mountains which is a fabulous place to explore and I have seen campers up there as well as lots of animals!
This is more of the the Toano Mountain Range to the west. You can see the railroad tracks that run about 1/2 of a mile to the west of the property: Below are close up shots of Pilot Peak to the East of the property, snow had already fallen in mid October!
These are photos merged together showing the long view of the Pilot Mountain Range with Pilot Peak on the right side of the picture! The property can be seen in this photo on the other side of the roll.
That's the cool looking Rhyolitte Butte to the northeast. I think that is actually the Utah side: Below are pictures of the town of Montello to the north, Char with one of her favorites, Pilot Peak, the road that runs along the section line where we found the federal servey marker where Sections 34, 35 and 3 meet, and the antelope that we found bounding their way through the valley just north of the property! This happens to be my desktop picture on my PC right now! The federal survey marker and road along the top of the section. This is only about 20 acres due north of the property as seen in the parcel map link above: Some of the locals that scattered just north of the property:
